Why I don’t like Elvis
Saying Elvis Presley is the King of Rock and Roll is like saying Vanilla Ice is the king of rap. While it is true that Vanilla Ice brought rap to white suburbia and was the first rapper to earn a #1 single on the billboard charts, let’s be real, the guy was a toolbox and a rip-off of the black artists that came before him. Hmm…does this scenario sound familiar? Elvis took the heavily underground and rich history of juke-joint blues and gospel, put a white face on it, watered it down, and sold it to the commercial masses. His curse was that he, like the Ice Man, became every bit as exploited as the music they pilfered. Maybe that Hound Dog was really just a Hellhound on his Trail.

“Saying Elvis Presley is the King of Rock and Roll is like saying Vanilla Ice is the king of rap.” That’s not true. Saying Elvis Presley is the King of Rock and Roll is like saying Tupac is king of rap.

I LOVE ELVIS 4EVER & EVER. Any1 has a problem w/ him, I have a problem w/ U. U R just jealous. He was friends w/ and loved all other singers from his era. Ask Jackie Wilson. They were very close. U like other Elvis-haters obviously know nothing about Elvis, Jackie or any other legend. Stop listening to hearsay and listen to facts. Elvis will always be my #1 man & singer. ELVIS 4EVER!!!

Okay…here’s the deal- Elvis Presley IS the king of rock and roll! I don’t know what your problem is but all my friends (We are 15) would rather listen to Elvis over any rock and roll singer there is. He was truely a wonderful singer, dancer, and let’s state the obvious–HE WAS HOT! =) My parents named me after the king and I am proud to have my fist name Presley. Maybe you should listen to THE KING’S music sometime….in conclusion- He is and will always be the king of rock and roll!

Eh, Elvis Is the King, I see the point you are making, and he did basically bring a type of music that already existed to a “New” audience… But he did it with such style that I feel he earned the title. All hail the King baby!

I hate Elvis. I really think he was overrated. My whole family thinks he’s overrated. You want to hear real music? Listen to the Rolling Stones and the Beatles. That is where talent really is.
