@Joe, Lady Gaga is amazing, her music is so well thought out, and well designed its amazing. Her style is so intentional and that is why she is so popular, she deserves it. But I have to agree with you, most american music is shit, in fact, (I’m american) most of my iPod is filled with british bands, I think Lady Gaga is one of the few modern american artists that I actually listen to (Along with Cake, and Offspring, among a few others). I never understood the appeal of Oasis though, it all sounds the same to me, though I love Kasabian, and their music blurs together a little too, so it’s probably just past my generation. I wish Kaiser Chiefs, Hard-Fi, and Kasabian were more popular in america though.

I am an American, and I agree. British music, on a whole, so tiers above American. Now granted, there are some American bands that are amazing, and some British bands that suck ass. But on a whole, I would say British music has this hands down.

Oasis are legendary, that may not be in America, but different strokes for different folks n all that bag.
I could say “America friendly” bands like Radiohead are kak, but it doesn’t make me right, i’ll get hate mail for weeks though.

Britain also isn’t responsible for artists like Ke$ha (yes that’s how she spells it), Lady bloody Gaga, Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift and RAP SHIT.

Our mainstream music is a bit more bearable IMO.

I disagree with some genres, Blue for example, American blues are much better than British blues, SRV, Robert Johnson, B.B. King, Les Paul, and much more, British Blue certainly cant compare.

Now when it comes to Rock, The UK has brought us some amazing bands, the best ever as a matter of fact, But the USA has brought Us Jimi Hendrix, a man who revolutionized the guitar and genre, and whom is on nearly every(except Zero’s) top guitarists as number 1, USA has also brought us Elvis Presley another amazing artist.

And while England created Metal, America has helped to revolutionize it many times over, Scandinavia has as well.

This is all a matter of taste of course, but I don’t think Britain has that big of an edge over America, and as a matter of fact, I think America wins in several genres.

I still prefer rock when it was by blacks, not this crap put out today. And the Beatles are overrated.

Yeah and im not even a brit!Zepplin, ozzy, deep purple, floyd, bowie, the who, the beatles, the kinks, stranglers, clash, etc etc just quite simply the BEST rock ever made!!!!
