This is the one and only list declaring with full confidence what are the best nerd websites in the internet universe. There are many, and many had to be cut in our in depth look at the best on the web. Those of you who read our site on a regular basis probably won’t be surprised by our number one pick. Those of you who don’t have as much knowledge of our site may be surprised by our number one choice. Either way, we feel it’s justified based on our in depth analysis of what provides the most for the nerd when traversing the numerous nerd websites on the internet. This is an important list for those of you who have identified yourself throughout your life as a nerd. It’s these websites that have further confirmed your nerdish instincts.

    10. Game Usagi

25956500_125x1251.jpgWant to know about the next upcoming game before dishing out all that hard earned done in a never ending shitty economy? Game Usagi will let you know before you waste your money on a shitty game. His new game reviews are precise and strike at the core of what the games about. When reading about new games, you will know if you will be a fan or not with their insightful commentary and consistent updates. Their suggestions for games that have not reached popularity is also another strong aspect of the website giving power to those games that are often ignored for erroneous reasons. Game Usagi is simply a solid video game website.

    9. Game Guy Thinks

gameguy-logo_197x97.jpgGame Guy Thinks, as you can tell by the title, is a thinking man’s gamer site. In this site, you will get insightful reviews on everything in the nerd world, from video games to dungeon and dragons. Also covered in his website are his bouts with depression which are always interesting reads into the mind of a gamer who’s analytical disposition sometimes leads to an honesty not conducive for normal happiness. His reviews of all things nerd are some of the best on the internet. Game Guy Thinks is proof that sometimes a person sacrifices himself for something greater than himself.

    8. DonkeyGamer

Who has a better mascot than Donkey Gamer? Who answers more of your nerd-ish questions than Donkey gamer? Donkey Gamer is one of our favorite websites, and its hands down the best Australian gaming website on the internet, and would be higher on our list if they updated more often. Their layout is aesthetically pleasing with a background mimicing the heavens of Super Mario World. Their articles are nicely written pieces of nerd mania covering everything under the nerd sun from new video games, to retro video games, and to nerd rants criticizing certain video games. We obviously have a lot in common with Donkey Gamer. Go to their site and read one of their rants and you will be hooked in this nerdish acrimony for many more days to come.

    7. Gnome’s Lair

Aside from having one of the coolest names for a nerd site that I’ve ever heard, there are plenty of reasons why the random Gnome’s Lair deserves a high spot on this list. Try to find a better site that covers video games, board games and Warhammer. I guarantee that you’ll fail. The layout of the site is great, and more importantly the articles themselves are witty and interesting to read through. There are few sites besides our own that the staff here at Old-Wizard takes the time to read through on a regular basis, and the Gnome’s lair is one of them. Go find out why!

    6. Once Upon a Geek

logo_165.gifIf you’re anything like me, you’ve had trouble finding a good comic book related blog on the internet. Well, your troubles are over. Once Upon a Geek is definitely the site to visit if you’re looking for a good comic book related website. With entertaining articles, a great layout and funny insights its hard to find a site that even comes close when you’re talking about comics. But its not just limited to comic books, at Once Upon a Geek you can find info on Doctor Who, Star Trek and Star Wars. This is definitely an amazing site, and one I check at least once a week.

    5. SlapStic

logo-small.jpgOf all the sites on this list, Slapstic is the closest in spirit to Old-Wizard. The site is run by Ryan Rigney, a Nintendo fan who’s not afraid to stir up controversy by saying what he actually thinks, unlike many other sites who censor themselves for fear of driving away fans. This is a quality that we here at OW admire. Much like our own site, this makes his articles both funny and interesting to read. The only thing keeping SlapStic from achieving a higher spot on this list is the fact that its so new, but give Ryan some time and his site may come to rival even our own.

    4. Game Lemon

    logo_1.jpg

Finally, another video game website with a sense of humor. Sometimes, video game websites and their fans can take the video game medium to such seriousness that the enterprise loses all its fun. Game Lemon understands this and is able to invigorate their articles with a sense of irony that adds to actual video game experience itself. Check out their article “Man vs. Console: How many games can a man beat in 24 hours?” to see that a video game website need not be all serious reviews with over thought out ratings. For the gamer who needs to relax from his pseudo-religious video game pretensions, Game lemon is the place to go.

    3. On Nintendo

It shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone who’s ever visited Old-Wizard before that a site named “On Nintendo” is on our Top 10 Gaming Sites list. At OnNintendo.com you can buy all the latest Nintendo games at a good price. They also provide the most update news on everything Nintendo from sales information to new game releases. If you want to know about a new Nintendo game, OnNintendo.com is the place to go. Their reviews and previews are some of the best on the internet. They have an in depth understanding of what makes Nintendo games great. Other websites when reviewing Nintendo games can only give vague reviews in comparison with OnNintendo.com. This is where the real Nintendo fans roam.

    2. Girls Don’t Game

It was this article that Girls Don’t Game that grabbed our attention forever. Beyond their incredible looking website is a genius not seen in most nerd websites. “Video games can teach us, make us feel, make us cry, make us laugh”. When Old-Wizard consistently tries to make the case for the greatness of the Squaresoft games for the SNES, it’s under these sentiments perfectly expressed by Girls Don’t Game. This website is just not perfectly articulated articles on why video games affect certain people in such a passionate manner though, they consistently review the latest RPG’s and adventure games that have made the video game medium what it was. Their sense of fantasy in defining what makes great games is right up Old-Wizard’s alley in its insistence in privileging imagination over current popular trends in video games. For this, they deserve the highest rank. Well almost…

    1. Old-Wizard.com

What kind of jackasses would put themselves at number one on their own list? I mean you would really, really have to be the largest group of self centered, egotistical, narcissistic, vane, conceited, solipsists that ever walked the face of this planet to do that. Even if your website was the best nerd website currently in existence, the true gentlemen would graciously bow themselves out of the contest, allowing others the chance to compete. Let’s just say you wrote great lists that were anything but the status quo, one thousand percent honest, and down right funny; wouldn’t you still show humility and perhaps list a friend’s website instead? What if your website took the nerd kingdom, turned it on it’s head, violently overthrew the government, and established a dictatorship based on your own personal beliefs; would it still not be the prudent as a leader to allow the rabble to take shelter in the warm halls of your mighty castle? Playing the devil’s advocate, what if your website was so awesome that it was able to recognize how awesome it was, and actually changed the way the nerd world would think about itself, and then the same website made a list of the best nerd websites; would it not be the responsible thing to do to place ones’ selves on the top of said list? Of course we disagree, because only a real group of jerks, I mean a real bunch of scum bags, with no sense, no tact, no love for their fellow man, and no real ability to follow the herd would do such a thing. That’s why we wouldn’t do that…right? Oh…wait we did. Fuck you, we’re the best!

  1. Great to see smaller, independent sites like ours on the list. I believe for a website like OW to list sites like Donkeygamer, it shows integrity in the sense that they’re under no financial obligation or form of ’sponsorship’ to list us. They’ve obviously done their own research and looked around and listed what THEY like. Any site has the right to create their own lists based entirely on their own opinion. If you have a different opinion, that’s fine but to slam a site for their own opinion; saying their opinion is wrong, seems to border on subtle censorship to me.

Game Trailers??? Uh…NO. How about someone who isn’t shoving advertising down your throat every 2 seconds.
