Top 10 Most Powerful Superheroes of All Time
Here it is folks, the biggest debate on the whole interweb. Never has there been a more well thought out argument for a completely non-existent thing. Which superhero could beat up which other superhero. Never has a group of people spent more time drawing graphs, doing calculations, making charts, and writing computer programs to prove that the hero they love is in fact the toughest. These people do more literature searches than a graduate student writing their dissertation on literature. One can only imagine what world problems could be solved if comic book nerds would instead focus this same energy on say; poverty, healthcare, the climate, pollution, the economy, childhood obesity, cancer, sudden infant death syndrome, racism, genetic disorders, violence against women, the melting ice caps, sending a man to mars, depression, solving Goldbach’s conjecture, creating a unified field theory, un-raveling the mystery of DNA, figuring out what happened before the big bang, resolving religious tensions in the Middle East, finding peace on Earth, making cleaner cars, sustainable energy, nuclear fission, getting rid of hippies, and the million other things that would make this world a better place to live in.
So in order to finish this debate once and for all we here at OW have finally finished THE list of the most powerful superheros. This is it folks. As every faithful reader knows that we here at OW are always right, we have proved it in the past. There can no longer be any debate. No more argument required. This list has taken us years to complete, and has threatened to destroy all that is OW. While making this list there was lots arguing, name calling, some shouting, a little bit of snuggling, more shouting, lots of your momma’s, but we finally came up with the definitive list of the most powerful superheroes of all time. We can’t be more clear on that last point, this is it. None of what you are about to read is opinion, it is fact. Next time one of your nerd buddies starts to argue you need only refer to this list, kindly pat him the head a give him one of the problems listed above to argue about. Here’s how we did it. First we excluded all super villains, this is heroes only, next we eliminated all exorbitantly overpowered cosmic beings (Phoenix, Odin, or the Highfather). And finally we ignored all heroes that would be considered ‘normal’ but have similar powers as those listed below. Then we plugged in all the facts and figures into the OW super computer and waited. Exactly 137 days later the answer was spit out. It then took us one year to figure out what that answer meant. Finally its over, these are the most powerful superheroes. Fact.
10. The Green Lantern (Hal Jordan)
Despite coming in at number 10, The Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) is one tough hombre. As a member of the Green Lantern Corps, he wields a power ring that can generate a variety of effects and energy constructs, sustained purely by the ring wearer’s strength of will. The greater the user’s willpower, the more effective the ring. The limits of the power ring’s abilities are never defined, but it has been referred to as “the most powerful weapon in the universe” on more than one occasion. It’s precious. Over the years, the ring has been shown capable of accomplishing almost anything within the imagination of the ring bearer. Often the rings are used to form solid-light constructs, the power and size of which are limited only by the ring-bearer’s willpower. And, if that wasn’t powerful enough, DC recently (in 2006) retconned the ring’s longtime lack of effect on yellow objects, stating that the ring-bearer need only feel fear and overcome it in order to affect yellow objects. With his protective bubbles and mean green energy bursts, the Green Lantern has fought with, and at varying times against, such heavyweights as Superman and Captain Marvel. But he’s still no match for number 9 on our list…9. Doctor Strange
Earth’s Sorcerer Supreme, Doctor Steven Strange, has unparalleled sagicity of the mystic arts, and stands as humanity’s first and last line of defense against all magic-based menaces that threaten our dimension. I think Doc Strange is probably one of the more powerful characters in the Marvel Universe, and light years ahead of any of the crappy sorcerers from DC (although Zatanna is way hotter). Given that he can do pretty much anything that the person who is currently writing him can imagine, he could potentially beat any of the other characters in this list. In fact, he could probably beat some of them by simply wiggling his finger. Of course this assumes that he would enough time to do so. The problem is that most of the other heroes on this list won’t give him even that small amount of time. His lack of super speed, super reaction time, super senses and any sort of super human invulnerability, make Dr. Strange one of the easiest characters to defeat on this list. For this reason alone we put Dr. Strange at #5. If he had unlimited prep time before each fight, he could easily be number one on this list.8. Black Bolt
Our seventh most powerful superhero of all time is Black Bolt, the king of the offshoot of humanity known as the inhumans. Black Bolt has often been described as one of the most powerful superheroes in the Marvel universe by other heroes, and for good reason. Through electron gathering and manipulation, Black Bolt can increase any aspect of his physical nature to superhuman levels, including his strength, speed, stamina and durability. In times of great need, he can channel this power into a single devastating punch called “The Master Blow”. He can also harness the electrons for matter transformation; the controlled projection of energy as concussive blasts or quasi-solid particle/electron fiends, broadcasting jamming frequencies, and flight. But Black Bolt’s most salient offensive weapon is his cacophonous voice, as a hypersonic shout that can level an entire city, and his merest whisper has been shown capable of stunning the Hulk. It’s even been suggested that his voice is capable of destroying an entire planet.7. The Flash
People who don’t know a lot about comic books often assume that the Flash can run really fast, but is otherwise a normal guy. He can turn his opponent into a statue, or phase his hand through his opponent’s head, causing it to explode. He is also impressively durable for a normal human, and most, though not all, of his impressive feats of durability have been while moving faster than normal. Many times he’s taken hits from Class-100 opponents, various energy blasts, ect. and ranged from quickly recovers to unfazed. Not only is Flash faster than Pre-CRISIS Kryptonians(and Silver Age Superman was so fast, not only count he travel through time and dimensions through speed, but he nearly broke the barrier between Life And Death and was about to crash into Heaven), but he’ll probably have a few examples of simply phasing through to avoid, as well. And Flash doesn’t need to cause the charge that causes matter to explode every time he vibrates through something.6. The Martian Manhunter
The Martian Manhunter’s chief super power is super strength. Super strength and durability. His two powers are super strength, durability and flight. His three powers are super strength, durability, flight and shapeshifting. Amongst his many powers are super strength, durability, flight and shapeshifting… I’ll come in again. The Martian Manhunter is basically the Swiss army knife of Superheroes. Along with all those powers, he has super speed and “Martian” vision, both at levels close to those of Superman himself. He not only can turn invisible but also alter his density to become incredibly strong, tough and ultimately intangible. In addition to his physical powers, J’onn is also a very powerful telepath. He also possesses 9 different senses, though these are ill defined and often forgotten by comic book writers. And if superhuman physical strength and mental powers aren’t enough, J’onn also has the ability to regenerate. In the past he’s even regenerated his entire body from only his severed hand.Pages: 1 2

Well, he still got the powers of a god and that’s why in went in another universe to create life.
March 19th, 2010 at 10:29 pm
Doctor Manhattan did not go to another universe to create life. He was traveling to another solar system, or maybe it was galaxy, to SEE if he could create life.
March 19th, 2010 at 1:23 am
Oh and ShadowHunter…..
Superman, Orion, Green Lantern, Silver Surfer, Thor, Captain Atom, Quasar, Genis-Vell, Firestorm, and many, many others have much more impressive feats than Doctor Manhattan.
Doctor Manhattan’s most impressive feat was teleporting between Earth and Mars. Which isn’t too impressive compared to plenty of other examples.
March 19th, 2010 at 3:31 am
what about galactus he created the surfer and can destroy him no problem… and then what about the time the hulk ate galactus… the hulk is definately the strongest… hulk vs thor… thor got his stuff tossed
March 19th, 2010 at 4:00 pm
Okay, maybe you won’t agree with me but I think Batman got is place in this Top 10.
March 19th, 2010 at 4:12 pm
Here’s my top 10 most powerful superheroes:
1. Dr. Manhattan
2. Silver Surfer
3. Superman
4. Hulk
5. Thor
6. Wonder Woman
7. Captain Marvel
8. The Flash
9. Professor X
10. Wolverine
Honorable mentions:
Orion, Iron Man, Namor, Dr. Strange
March 19th, 2010 at 4:57 pm
Pete:
I don’t think that Wolverine belongs in the top ten let alone top 20 or 30. Yes, his healing factor makes him difficult to kill, but I hardly think that puts him on a top 10 most powerful list.
And just for the record, I miss the days when Wolverine’s healing abilities weren’t grossly exaggerated.
March 19th, 2010 at 1:56 am
@larryfilmmaker
I have seen the movie, before.
Is really funny.
March 19th, 2010 at 5:45 pm
Wolverine nor Dr Mattanhan should not be on this list.
If being hard to kill makes you powerful then where Hercules & Sersi they are immortal & more powerful then Wolverine.
Dr. Mattanhan probably shouldn’t be on list at all if you do put him on the list surely no at the top. 1st reason) if he is as powerful as you think he is he’s too powerful for this list. 2nd)as Delta said in previous posting please show were is ability would work against the likes of Superman, Thor or Silver Surfer if can’t do that then he should not be number 1 on your list. 3rd If I read Watchmen correctly he does not come across as heroic person by the end, his more like uncaring jerk. So not really a hero neither so that another reason he shouldn’t be on this list. For more reason you may want read some of the previous posting starting with Delta posting about Dr. Manhattan.
March 19th, 2010 at 9:20 pm
Adam…..
um Did you pay attention? The list excludes the ridiculously powerful, and Galactus would fit that. And it excludes VILLAINS, and if anything Galactus is a VILLAIN more times than not.
March 19th, 2010 at 9:21 pm
Adam…..
um Did you pay attention? The list excludes the ridiculously powerful, and Galactus would fit that. And it excludes VILLAINS, and if anything Galactus is a VILLAIN more times than not.
And Hulk is so fucking overrated. He ate Galactus in MARVEL ZOMBIES, which isn’t canon nor is that to be taken seriously.
And Thor’s got the majority of wins over Hulk.
And fuck, Superman’s demonstrated to be stronger than Hulk. Superman’s got the more impressive strength feats.
March 19th, 2010 at 9:26 pm
Galactus , is neither good or evil he is just a Force of nature on a Cosmic scale
March 19th, 2010 at 9:30 pm
And ShadowHunter, why does Batman deserve a spot on the list? He’s a normal human. He hasn’t even beaten Superman, in continuity, like people claim. And even if he had, which no one has given an actual example of, using tech and prep he normally wouldn’t have don’t count in his power.
March 19th, 2010 at 9:37 pm
And Pete, what has Doctor Manhattan DONE to even be considered for the Top 10? #2-#8, with the exception of Hulk, all have feats much more impressive than Doctor Manhattan. As do your honorable mentions of Orion and Doctor Strange. And even Iron Man and Namor are much much more powerful than Wolverine, though they don’t belong on this list. Orion and Doctor Strange though are powerful enough to deserve consideration.
Like Jesse said, just because Wolverine’s hard to kill doesn’t make him powerful.
March 19th, 2010 at 5:53 pm
Is Dr. Manhattan an actual Super hero?
I did not seen him doing something Heroic during the whole comic, just maybe at the end, but He choosed the “lie” over the “truth” in the series.
He did not even saved the vietnamise woman from being killed by the comedian and He could have stopped the comedian.
So I guess He is not a Super hero, maybe a Super being, but not a Super hero.
March 19th, 2010 at 7:00 pm
Delta, Batman actually beat Superman who was infected by some kind of Kryptonite Mind control (by Lex Luthor). He used his technology (A robot that gives him Superhuman strenght) to beat him. Yes, at the end, he used Superman weakness but in the end, he beat him. The power of Batman is his intelligence. Finding the weakness of his ennemies is not a problem for him. I think he would be able to beat every Superheroes (almost all of them) in the list if you give him some time.
March 19th, 2010 at 7:02 pm
Delta, oh, I forgot. Batman actually fought ennemies that were actually stronger than him. Exemple : Bane, Killer Croc, etc.. Yes, the first time Batman (Bruce Wayne) encounter Bane, he gets his ass kicked but the second time, Bane actually got owned. How did a simple mortal guy could beat a guy that has Super Strenght like Bane and even Killer Croc..?
March 19th, 2010 at 11:11 pm
“First we excluded all super villains, this is heroes only, next we eliminated all exorbitantly overpowered cosmic beings (Phoenix, Odin, or the Highfather).”
That’s very good and all, but if your list only includes heroes, why would Hulk be on it?
Then again, that’s only my take on the matter. I guess whenever I think of heroes, I think of righteousness, selflessness, reasonable, courage, compassion, and most important of all: a hero always believe the goodness in things and doesn’t kill at whim.
Hulk? Bah, if Dr Manhattan doesn’t make the list, why Hulk? While I do agree to Hulk being one of the most powerful entities out there, he’s by no means a hero in my opinion. In fact, I think of Hulk as more of a “Ugh, little man shot me with a bazooka, me wanna break his bones.” type of guy.
Heck, he never locks Banner in a closet and come out to play unless a spaceship explodes and kills his family. -WWH
When had Hulk ever stopped a robbery? When had Hulk ever catch a falling train? When had Hulk ever took a hit for other than Betty?
I realize I’m gonna piss off a lot of Hulk fans by writing this, but… Let’s see come criticism.
March 19th, 2010 at 1:44 am
What ever you say BATMAN for the win. He’s just a normal guy without any unusual powers but he has something which other Superheroes don’t have – TALENT.
March 19th, 2010 at 3:35 am
Well, I love Batman, I like his stories and I like his attitude and the fact that He never shows fear and that He is really smart, but there are things out of his league.
How is he going to be able to defeat a guy who can react in a Pico-second?
or a guy who travels arround the globe a dozen of times in less than a second?

Flash is Godly! D:<
March 19th, 2010 at 5:55 pm
I’m not rabbit fan of the Hulk but I have to said Hulk has done many heroic things quick examples he has help Avengers & Defenders save earth on multi times and Banner very action of saving Rick Jones from Gamma Bomb was heroic. Hulk hero status not really in question just if his powerful enough be on this list. It’s hard to make arguement for Dr. Manhattan being hero or point to his heroic deeds. I like what Alberto said “So I guess He is not a Super hero, maybe a Super being, but not a Super hero.”. I couldn’t put it better myself.
March 19th, 2010 at 7:08 pm
When He is Dr. Banner, he has actually fought on the goo side, like in the Infinity Gauntlet Series, He also has that whole Defenders history behind him.
Somehow when He is in his “kid” mentality, he recognizes “bad” from “good” as weel as any 5 year old could.
I have seen the Hulk saving people, either by being aware of it or by consequence of his actions, more times than not.
Like the Punisher or Wolwerine “anti-heroe” status
Plus, lets also remember, That the lines of “good” and “evil” are not as well defined in Marvel U as in DCU
March 19th, 2010 at 7:09 pm
I meant good side
March 19th, 2010 at 8:54 pm
Alberto, you think Batman had time when he had to dodge the Omega Beam of DarkSeid (Nobody managed to Dodge it)? Just saying that this Human got his place in the greatest superheroes.
March 19th, 2010 at 4:56 am
No lives ,just no lives
March 19th, 2010 at 4:51 pm
NO BRAINER IF WERE BASING THIS LIST ON SUPER HERO BOUTS POPULARITY INTELECT AND POWERS WERE THE HECK IS SPIDERMAN WHO ACTUALLY RESCUED THORS SORRY SELF FROM THAT GIANT SNOW GOD ALL IM SAYIN IS HE SHOULD BE PLACED SOMWHERE BETWEEN 5-9
March 19th, 2010 at 5:27 pm
@ShadowHunter
I think, because of Batman have no powers and he usually hangs or battles people more powerful than him, He is always on alert and ready for possible threats.
If We take into account that He is just a “regular” human and the type of things he has achieved against beings who can snap him like a twig, He is one of the greatest superheroes.
Nightwing, Green Arrow, Hawkeye, Robin and the “regular” humans/superheroes will also enter in this category, but Robin not only he is a “regular” human, He is not even an adult, He is a KID! and still, He does not backdown.
All this guys, I think deserve an honorable mention.
While Batman takes the cake at being the best. It takes a lot of cojones to stand up against Superboy Prime with a few arrows, a batarang and your wits.
March 19th, 2010 at 11:14 pm
The main reason why non-super powered people should not be included on the list is just that; They have no powers. Powers may not make you a hero, but they can and probably will make you powerful.
This list is about the most powerful superheroes, not the most heroic or the greatest.
If Batman can dodge Darkseid’s omega beam does that make him powerful? No, not really. It makes him athletic, cunning, etc.
So how can you argue that Batman is one of the most powerful superheroes if he doesn’t have any superpowers, can’t survive an atomic bomb without help, and probably can’t lift 3x his body weight?
He is one of the greatest heroes if not the greatest, but he isn’t powerful in the sense that he can stand a fist fight with Hulk, Superman, or Thor.
March 19th, 2010 at 3:01 am
I understand this is a list of super heroes… but tell me, who on this list could stop Batman?
March 19th, 2010 at 4:58 pm
Webhead, Spiderman can’t really beat one of the Superheroes in the top 10.
March 19th, 2010 at 9:09 pm
ShadowHunter…..
WHERE did Batman EVER beat Superman in an in-continuity comic? The ONLY time I’ve EVER seen Batman actually defeat Superman was SUPERMAN: RED SON, an ELSEWORLDS. I’ve asked people numerous times when Batman has ever actually beat Superman, that wasn’t RED SON, wasn’t THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS(which not only isn’t continuity, but Batman doesn’t even WIN), and not once have I been given an actual example. You gave no issue reference for your example, assuming it actually happened.
Also a big problem with claiming that because Batman can plan a way to defeat enemies means he deserves to be on the list is that it fails. That’s NOT how Batman would normally operate. He’d have to PLAN. You give Superman the same amount of time to prepare and he doesn’t need as much time as Batman. He just goes in less than a second and fries Batman with his Heat Vision, disintegrating him. Sure, Superman doesn’t operate like that, but it’s well within his capability to do. And he doesn’t need time to prepare. Batman needs time to prepare to have a CHANCE. Batman wasn’t even able to take Superman down when he had help from the JLA and synthetic Kryptonite was used.
And Superman’s Kryptonite “weakness” isn’t as bad as people think. Superman having been worn down from days of fighting/torture by Bizarro and Mongul, thrown onto sand covered in powdered Kryptonite, and then shrugging off a nuclear explosion that destroys the majority of an island(SUPERMAN: THE MAN OF STEEL #131) isn’t even impressive compared to what happened in INFINITE CRISIS #7. Superman exerts himself flying faster-than-light under a red sun, is surrounded by most of the universe’s Kryptonite, literally a planet’s worth of Kryptonite, and still shrugs-off a punch from Superboy Prime. Who’s so strong he actually PUNCHED his way out of a dimension, and changed the past as a side-effect.
And so what that Batman’s fought enemies stronger than him? That’s common. Bane and Killer Croc aren’t so much stronger than Batman that he can’t use skill to compensate. They’re not VASTLY stronger than human. And Bane’s only even stronger than humanly possible when on Venom. And I know what happened to Batman the first time he fought Bane, considering Batman’s physical condition, he had no real chance.
If you’re going to make a deal out of Batman belongs on the list because he’s fought opponents stronger than him, then you REALLY fail when comparing this to Superman. Superman’s faced Doomsday, Bizarro, Pocketverse Superboy, KINGDOM COME Superman, Lar Gand when Daxamites were considered stronger than Kryptonians, and Mongul when Superman was weakened by weeks of yellow solar radiation deprivation, at a time when Mongul, at least, rivaled Superman’s peak strength.
And Batman dodging the Omega Beams is proof? um While dodging the Omega Beams is more impressive than the average LASER beam, it’s not THAT much more impressive for you to say he belongs on this list. Just deal with it, Batman’s a normal human, and does not belong on this list. Coming-up with a plan to take-down someone more powerful than him sucks more than a thousand Jenna Jamesons as an argument that he belongs on this list. Give up.
March 19th, 2010 at 9:12 pm
Jr Strange…..
Hulk’s been a hero more often than not, especially when he was Professor Hulk. Others have brought-up more reasons, but him as Professor Hulk hadn’t been brought-up.
But fuck no, Hulk doesn’t really belong on this list from the point of being powerful enough.
March 19th, 2010 at 9:28 pm
WEBHEAD 24…..
um What are you smoking? Spider-Man doesn’t belong on this list. Nor could he hope to. He saved Thor? What was the example? The only two reasons I could give your claim any credibility would be if it were A: he provided a distraction, which is the BEST Spider-Man could be used for against someone who gives Thor trouble, or B: just got him to safety.
The ONLY two on this list that Spider-Man has beaten are Hulk and Professor X during SECRET WARS. Professor X didn’t see it coming, but in a straight-up one-on-one fight that wouldn’t be the case. He’s beaten Hulk three times, once when he was Captain Universe he knocked the gray Hulk into orbit, once Hulk had some alien virus or something messing Hulk up enough that Spider-Man could knock him out, and once was really bad writing where Spider-Man knocks Hulk out by…..throwing a truck at him? TERRIBLE writing, Spider-Man does not have that strength. Green Lantern and Doctor Strange are the only other two that Spider-Man could have ANY realistic chance of beating, but that’s ONLY if they’re unprepared and he attacks before they can react. And that’s assuming that this is a normal human Green Lantern, not someone like Killowog who has a degree of super strength and invulnerability without his Power Ring.
Who else could he beat on this list? MAYBE Martian Manhunter if it was when fire was a big issue against him, but that’s questionable at best. If Martian Manhunter engulfed in a never ending fire could still give Wonder Woman and Flash trouble, then Spider-Man has no realistic chance. And all Spider-Man can do is hit Martian Manhunter, and HOPE that if there was a huge fire that he could knock him out. Martian Manhunter can knock Spider-Man out, throw/knock Spider-Man into orbit, knock him out with Martian Vision, knock him out or brainwash him or paralyze him or a number of other things with telepathy, he can smother him with his shape-shifting and suffocate Spider-Man, use shape-shifting to cut Spider-Man up, phase his hand into Spider-Man’s head and partially solidify it, or just stand there and let Spider-Man tire himself out.
Superman? What the fuck is he going to do to Superman? Only reason I brought-up fire for Martian Manhunter is it’s a lot more likely to come into play than Kryptonite or red solar energy. Spider-Man would break his hands on Superman. Superman can knock Spider-Man out, knock/throw him into orbit, fry him with Heat Vision, immobilize him with “Freeze Breath,” blow him out of the city with “Hurricane Breath,” or just let Spider-Man tire himself out.
Thor? What can Spider-Man do to Thor? Nothing, really. What can Thor do to Spider-Man? Knock him out, throw/knock him into space, teleport him somewhere else, knock him out, fry or electrocute him with various different energy projections, and more.
Do I even need to go on?
March 19th, 2010 at 9:30 pm
D Miles…..
Who on this list can beat Batman? Everybody on this list.
The better question is who on this list could Batman beat with-out prep-time. Professor X, Green Lantern(assuming a normal human is the GL), and Doctor Strange, but those are only if he sneaks-up on them.
March 19th, 2010 at 12:06 am
1) The Hulk from World War Hulk
Black Bolt
2) Sentry
3) Odin Powered Thor
4) Gladiator
5) Superman
6) Silver Surfer
7) Strange
9) Professor X
10)Green Lantern
March 19th, 2010 at 3:55 pm
I have to agree, as scary as batman is and as cool as he is, he does not belong in the list.
Valor, wits and being prepared and alert does not count as a superpower
March 19th, 2010 at 5:40 pm
Wow Red Pain, can you say retarded? Hulk is the least powerful on your list save perhaps Professor X, Superman’s more powerful than Gladiator, and I’d have a hard time seeing Sentry as powerful as classic Thor, let alone Odin-Powered Thor.
March 19th, 2010 at 11:48 pm
Hulk has smashed a planetoid twice as big as earth. Hulk needs to be #1 on this list. Hulk would pound Superman or Thor into dust.
March 19th, 2010 at 11:51 pm
Also, explain to me how classic Thor is more powerful than Sentry, you dimwit? Sentry was stated in WWH as “The most powerful human in the universe”. Bottom line. There is no way around it. Odin himself would probably be defeated by Sentry, and Thor would have no chance. No even “Odin-powered Thor”. And now imagine that Hulk has defeated Sentry.
March 19th, 2010 at 1:10 am
I agree. The Hulk has shown feats that are much more impressive than either Superman or Thor.
He has shattered an asteroid twice the size of Earth with a single punch.
Hulk managed to shift the continental plates of an entire planet to keep it from collapsing
When hulk lost control of his power at one point, he nearly destroyed the entire planet through the sheer output of force from his body. his foot step almost sank the entire Eastern Coast of the United States.
Hulk has survived blasts from Thor, silver surfer, thanos, the High Evolutionary, the Sentry, and Galactus. A blast from Exodus didn’t even phase him.
His skin has resisted being pierced by a “Dog O’ War”, stated as capable of crushing adamantium
Hulk is capable of regenerating from being vaporized into powder
He has also Dented adamantium
Clearly, Hulk belongs at the top spot on this list.
March 19th, 2010 at 3:00 am
@JP and Big Lou
Hahahahahahahahahaha you guys are funny
Hulk MIGHT make the list, but HARDLY on the 1st place.
@Delta
I think there is fresh meat on the house
March 19th, 2010 at 2:30 pm
Here’s how the top 10 Superheroes list should go:
1. Silver Surfer (He might even be too powerful for the list)
2. The Green Lantern (the only reason he is #2 instead of #1 is he has to re-charge)
3. Thor
4. The Martian Manhunter
5. Sentry
6. Captain Marvel (his magic gives him the edge over Superman. Plus he always seems to make Supes look like a chump)
7. Superman
8. Wonder Woman (truth be told, I almost think she is ahead of Superman. I would call 7 and 8 a tie)
9. The Flash
10. Orion

Big Lou & JP…..
Oh boy!! New morons to point and laugh at while I destroy them!!!!!
Hulk is as overrated as the two of you are stupid. you’re just a couple of ignorant, idiotic Hulk fanboys who don’t know much about anything other than Hulk.
For one, Big Lou, a statement alone that Sentry’s the most powerful doesn’t prove anything. It can be used as evidence to show that he’s powerful, but what does it PROVE? Nothing, really. Plus the term “human” is quite important. Thor’s one of those few gods that are actually quite powerful. And Marvel’s used the terms “human” and “mortal” before to make a character seem more impressive than they are in the strength hierarchy. But really, how much has Sentry done? I haven’t been overly impressed by him. He’s got a few good things, but nothing that’s made me think he’s as powerful as classic Thor. So it’s even worse that the guy put him above Odin-Thor.
Now, what the FUCK makes you think Odin would be defeated by Sentry? Odin’s feats far out-weight anything Hulk AND Sentry have done combined. Plus you show your stupidity by claiming that Hulk defeated Sentry. Nope, he didn’t. He stalemated Sentry who was under some Plot-Induced Stupidity. How the FUCK did HULK beat Sentry if it was BRUCE who knocked-out BOB? They reverted to normal humans, so thus they drew.
As to the whole Hulk VS Superman thing…..
Well, I don’t know what JP’s smoking to think that Hulk’s feats are more impressive than Superman’s or Thor’s. It’s the other way around. Thor and Superman are much more impressive than Hulk.
On Superman, for one, while I still admit Hulk could POTENTIALLY get stronger than Superman, the reality is, in terms of demonstrative feats, Superman’s the stronger of the two. His strength feats are simply more impressive.
For idiots to make a big deal out of Hulk having destroyed that meteor twice the size of Earth, most people don’t take that seriously, as it was gray Hulk. Thing is stronger than gray Hulk, so if anybody thinks that feat really counts, then you’re fucking retarded. Not to mention the fact that Hulk very well could have had help from those rockets that even got him there. But even if you count it, Superman has much more impressive feats, anyways.
JLA #77 Superman contains a miniature black hole in his hands and keeps it from expanding. He then, after a magnetic field keeps it from expanding, throws it. So he throws something with the mass of a star. I know people claim a calm Hulk didn’t need help with a black hole, but there’s multiple problems with that claim. One: Anybody who’s fucking stupid enough to think a calm Hulk can do something Superman can’t needs to blow their fucking brains out, as they’re too worthless to be in society. Two: Superman didn’t need help containing the black hole it’s self. He simply needed the magnetic field to keep it from expanding so he could get rid of it. Three: After seeing the scans Alberto had presented, it doesn’t even seem to be a damn black hole Hulk dealt with. There wasn’t anything stating it was a black hole, and if Namor wasn’t effected adversely by it and could escape it’s pull, I don’t see it being an actual black hole. So we put that myth to rest.
So what that Hulk held together a planet’s continental plates? A weaker than current Superman was used for his strength to power Maggeddon’s clockwork-like gears. Maggeddon dwarfed the Earth/Moon system. This was during the WORLD WAR III stroyline in JLA, starting with #30something and ending with #41.
Superman also slowed-down “the weight of eternity” when much weaker than he is currently, in JLA/SPECTRE: SOUL WARS.
In ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN #649, his fight with Kal-L destroys Earth-2 from the impact of their blows, while ABOVE it in orbit. They also shatter the boundaries of space and time.
And Superman has actually done what Hulk fanboys make SUCH a big deal about Hulk being POTENTIALLY capable of, infinite strength. Superman lifted infinite weight in FINAL CRISIS: SUPERMAN BEYOND #1. So there, demonstratively, Superman is actually stronger than Hulk.
So what that Hulk’s survived blasts from the characters you mentioned, JP? Superman’s survived blasts comparable and more impressive. He’s one of the few to have survived Darkseid’s Omega Force. He’s taken blasts from white Martians, Cyborg-Superman(who was enhancing his Heat Vision by drawing the drawing power from the core of a “techno-planet,” which Cyborg-Superman stated had “inestimable TECHNICAL RESOURCES” and that he had, “–the unlimited POWER of this entire TECHNO-PLANET at my FINGERTIPS!”), Captain Atom, Orion, various Green Lanterns and Power Ring users, Imperiex Probes, Black Lightning, he took an electric shock that took-down even Martian Manhunter and Orion, Coldcast, Firestorm, Starfire, Major Force, Blackrock(who draws power from “millions of sources”), the Infinity Man, Blaze(a Skyfather-level demon), the 7 Elder Gods, Disciple(who was powered by those Elder Gods), multiple Elementals, Shazam(a Skyfather-level wizard). He withstood an energy blast from Imperiex Prime himself, and a similar beam had killed Doomsday, who is far far more powerful than Hulk. After exerting himself under a red sun AND surrounded by literally a planet’s worth of Kryptonite, AND flying THROUGH a red sun then crashing on a planet, Superman still survived a blast of Heat Vision from Superboy Prime trying to kill Superman. And Superboy Prime is a Pre-CRISIS Kryptonian. Superman even endured the “heat of 10 billion suns.”
While Hulk might not have been pierced by something that’s stated to be capable of crushing Adamanitum, Superman withstood a punch from Superboy Prime. Superboy Prime is so strong that he changed time, as a SIDE-EFFECT of punching his way out of a dimension. That’s a fuck of a lot more impressive than not having your skin pierced by something that can crush Adamantium. Not to mention the fact that Superman had been weakened from exerting himself flying faster-than-light under a red sun AND was surrounded by the majority of Kryptonite in the universe.
Healing factor is the only thing Hulk truly has over Superman, but Superman’s got some damn impressive healing factor feats of his own, the rare times he’s actually needed it.
Thor has also dented Adamantium, so big deal that Hulk did it. Superman is obviously capable of it too, of course having the strength to contain black holes and shatter the very fabric of reality is a lot more impressive than denting an allegedly indestructible metal.
Clearly, Superman is above Hulk. But this is just on strength/durability alone(and I didn’t even give all the good durability feats from Superman). Superman has a WHOLE LOT MORE goin’ for him than just hitting stuff or taking punishment. Just going on the facts that Superman’s demonstratively superior to Hulk in strength and durability, has a competitive healing factor, and can fly puts him above Hulk alone. But then you factor in Superman’s various other powers. His various senses put him further above Hulk in power. But then there’s his speed.
On at least 10 occasions, Superman’s out-raced energy. Including in ACTION COMICS #854, where he out-maneuvers and blocks/deflects multiple radiation beams so fast it’s like he’s speed-blitzing them, seeming to block/deflect multiple beams simultaneously. And he’s flown more than 2 lightyears in just seconds. He’s also used his speed to turn invisible, intangible, and create vibrations powerful enough to shatter someone as durable as Cyborg-Superman. Three more things Superman has that Hulk does not.
Superman’s Heat Vision has done such feats as cauterizing a hole in the fabric of reality(NEW GODS #10), contribute to the recreation of the Big Bang(ZERO HOUR #0), and more.
Superman’s “Super Breath” has allowed him to restrain powerhouses like Wonder Woman, Darkseid, Bizarro in ice even if only temporarily, the “hurricane” aspect obviously is a weapon he has that Hulk doesn’t.
And then you factor in Superman’s various more miscellaneous powers and abilities. He’s used a “Super-Voice” that’s allowed him to mess with frequencies, deafen superhumanly durable metas from a distance, apparently vaporize a HUGE section of ocean, and more. He very well could use it as a weapon against someone. Superman’s also shown the power to absorb/drain energy. Including from Mageddon’s Anti-Sun, that was going to go “hypernova” and at minimum vaporize half a galaxy. Considering the Angels of Heaven were preparing to construct a new universe, it seemed like it was going to destroy more than “just” half a galaxy. Then Superman’s Torquam Vo has allowed him the equivalent of telepathic communication, to create illusions, counter reality-manipulation from someone powerful enough to defeat and contain DC’s equivalent to Eternity, and more.
So yes, clearly Superman is so far above the Hulk that it’s utterly laughable that one would claim, “Clearly, Hulk belongs at the top spot on this list.”
Oh!! Let’s go on Thor!!
Thor’s taken blasts from Silver Surfer(including one fight where Surfer was amped to an unknown degree by Loki’s magick), Firelord, Zeus, Odin, the Destroyer, Celestials, a space armada with enough firepower to destroy the Earth, the Dark God Perrikus, and more.
He’s dented Adamantium, destroyed Secondary Adamantium, carved through Uru rock with his fingers, resisted the weight of multiple planets, resisted the gravity of a neutron star. One time when him and Hercules arm-wrestled, they generated nearly enough pressure to throw the Earth out of orbit, and more. And Thor’s also stalemated Hulk twice through pure strength, and most of the fights between Thor and Savage or Professor Hulk don’t have Hulk as overwhelmingly stronger. Hell, one time Namor and the Gravage Hulk were BARELY capable of restraining Thor, each having one of Thor’s arm, AND having the leverage advantage. So at the least, Thor has comparable strength and durability to Hulk.
But then Thor’s got various energy projection/manipulation powers that by themselves would make Thor more impressive than Hulk. Thor’s also shown to have at least a degree of superhuman speed, showing to be faster than Hulk. And Thor can teleport, warp space, has some spells(even though I’ve never seen Thor use them in combat, it’s one thing Thor has that Hulk does not), restructure matter, and more. So clearly Thor is much more powerful than Hulk.
And I could name a dozen other characters and give reasons why they’re much more powerful than Hulk.
You Hulk fanboys are going to be so pissed-off when this list is officially and completely redone, I know where Hulk’s going to be. And you guys will not be happy.

Alan…..Wow, just wow.
Silver Surfer certainly is not too powerful for the list. And he’s rather inconsistent, and people often overrate what he does have. And while one could make an argument for Silver Surfer being more powerful than Thor, that hasn’t really shown when the two face-off.
Green Lantern over everyone else? um Various Green Lanterns, as well as those having Power Rings, have NOT shown to be more powerful than Superman. Cyborg-Superman as a Sinestro Corps. member is the only one who’s really stood-out to me, but he’s near-Superman level physically in addition to the Power Ring. On more than one occasion, Superman’s shown superior to not just a single Green Lantern, but a Green Lantern with a team, on at least two occasions. Martian Manhunter and other Martians have also shown to be above Green Lanterns, and Orion has shown to be above Green Lanterns as well.
You’re actually putting Sentry, Martian Manhunter, and Captain Marvel over Superman, and almost think Wonder Woman’s above Superman?
I used to agree that Martian Manhunter is more powerful than Superman, but since the gap in strength, speed and durability has increased between the two, and the versatility gap has decreased, I’ve changed my mind. Sentry hasn’t done anything to show he’s even at Superman’s level, let alone two spots ahead of him.
What in the world has Sentry done to even put him on the same level as Superman, let alone above it? I remember someone trying to prove that Sentry was faster than Superman as his pathetic attempt at an argument to claim Hulk could deal with Superman’s speed, couldn’t even show Sentry to be as FAST as Superman. The best speed examples for Sentry he gave are jokes compared to Superman, for one.
Captain Marvel’s magick sure didn’t show an edge against Superman when Superman was also being effected, albeit to an unknown degree, by Kryptonite. And I don’t know what the FUCK you’re smoking to claim Captain Marvel always makes Superman look like a chump. Superman was worn in addition to being effected by Kryptonite, when a fresh Captain Marvel sucker-shot him and Superman got back-up and made Captain Marvel the chump. The fight didn’t end in a win for either, since Superman and Batman had a plan they needed to pull-off to trick Luthor, which included faking defeat. But Superman sure showed to be the superior of the two, even with all that against him. And he then beat Captain Marvel off-panel.
Wonder Woman isn’t even as strong, durable or fast as Superman, though they are enough to keep-up and hold her own with him, more times than not. But her other abilities aren’t as varied as Superman’s, nor are they as impressive. So it’s pretty funny for you to say you almost think she’s above him.
And Flash above Orion? It should be the other way around. And Orion’s above Wonder Woman, as well. Stronger, more durable(though not as fast), and much more versatility.

@Delta
On that allegedly Black hole of Hulk.
I check it again and on the next page it says “Dimensional Maelstorm” as stated by the Silver Surfer on the story.
So that puts the last nail to the “Black Hole myth”
March 19th, 2010 at 11:55 pm
Okay. That’s for Delta. I totally agree with you about Superman and please, don’t destroy me!
I have been talking with a Spiderman fanboy lately and he started saying that Spiderman was way stronger than Superman. He even gave me a list of 10 Superheroes that could beat him. I am going to give them to you. I would like to know what you think about the list he gave me.
1) Rogue: She is not afraid of playing damsel in distress and then she touches Superman and she gets? powers and memories (but not weaknesses) and if she doesnt let go of him, she can kill him.
2) Gambit: He is not afraid to pretend to surrender, and then supercharge a gum and blow it up in his face, then he can touch Supies skin and make him explode.
3) Cloak: All he has to do is Swallow Supies in his Shadow. He doesnt have to release him. Just swallow all his light.
4)Energiser: Her power is Energy, and she absorbs it then redirects it. All she has to do is touch Supies and she would absorb the energy he is emmiting and she would be ready to take him down… but she doesnt have to stop absorbing… Supies also wont hit her cause she? is a little girl.
5) Jubilee: She explodes stuff on a molecular level. No matter how tough someone’s skin is, she can blow it up.
6) Dazzler: She converts sound into light… so she blinds him then what? She learned how to use her light to cut? stuff through molecularly… so… ouchie.
7) Shadowcat: she phases through his chest and takes his heart out… or she pulls him into solid matter and makes sure his head is there then lets go.
9) Dr Strange: Supies is weak against magic. And he is the Sorcerer Supreme.
10) Pheonix/Jean Grey: She gets her power from suns… especially exploding suns… And she? uses that energy, and she is God among Gods with telepaths.
I think this is the most stupid list I have ever seen. Don’t be scared to destroy it.
March 19th, 2010 at 1:36 am
I disagree with the list the most powerful hero (if he wishes) is Dr. Manhaten (or however you spell his name). So ya…he kicks all ass
March 19th, 2010 at 11:17 am
OK ShadowHunter…..
Yeah, that Spider-Man fanboy you’re talking to is likely inbred or brain damaged…..or both. For him to claim Spider-Man’s way stronger than Superman? Superman’s casually lifted a nuclear submarine over his head with a single hand, something FAR BEYOND Spider-Man’s capabilities at full strength, and that’s not even an impressive feat for Superman. It’s an AVERAGE showing, at best. A nuclear submarine weighs as much as 26,000 tons when surfaced. I gave some of Superman’s more impressive strength feats above.
Rogue: It’s questionable at best if she could absorb Superman’s powers. People make a big deal about Parasite, but his draining power works differently than her’s. For one, Superman’s electromagnetic aura very well could potentially prevent Rogue from being able to absorb Superman. But even if it has little to no effect, Rogue’s ability to absorb from extraterrestrials has been inconsistent. Sometimes she simply can’t absorb their powers. But she wouldn’t immediately depower Superman, and there’s nothing to say he can’t just knock her out.
Gambit: lmao Does he think Gambit could actually stop Superman by throwing exploding bubblegum in his face? To someone who’s shrugging off nukes isn’t even an impressive feat? Yeah, not going to do anything. And I don’t believe Gambit still possesses the ability to charge organic matter, but even if he does, if Superman’s aura doesn’t stop it, and assuming Gambit’s able to effect Superman’s body(various factors make it abnormal matter that make it questionable that Gambit could even effect, if he could effect organic matter), Gambit might win, assuming a stupid scenario like that actually happened. But it’d kill him in the process. Gambit charges the potential energy. Superman’s essentially an ultra-efficient flying nuclear reactor. Each atom in his body is like a miniature sun, as Atom has experienced. The amount of energy that would produce, assuming Gambit could actually charge Superman and blow him up, would be like setting off a generic Doomsday Bomb to devastate the world. But it’s not like Superman couldn’t just KO Gambit with a finger flick to the head. Superman’s done this more than once when much weaker than he currently is.
Cloak: Considering some of the shit they’ve done with Superman regarding similar, but more powerful, situations which that guy claims Cloak would win, quite funny. If Neron wasn’t able to break Superman, and Superman wasn’t driven crazy by Asmodel’s “Heaven’s Light,” and Superman overcame transformation into a demon by a Skyfather-level demon through will-power, and Superman overcame a death god’s attack through will power, and that’s not even all the examples I could give, I’m thinking Cloak won’t cut it. Hell, if this actually happened in a comic, I’m thinking they’d have Superman’s “light” overwhelm Cloak.
Energizer: Last I checked, that girl couldn’t even DO that. Far as I’m aware, she can’t drain power sources like he’s claiming, just absorb essentially projected energy. And Superman won’t hit her because she’s a little girl? It’s not like he couldn’t just restrain her somehow without actually harming her. One of his B-Class or C-Class villains, Riot, gives him experience in this. Riot’s not a threat to Superman, just an annoyance. He’s similar to Multiple Man. Every time he’s been hit with a certain amount of force, he splits into a number of Riots equal to the amount of force he’s hit with. One time in an early encounter Superman tried hitting him hard enough to knock-out two Riots, he was surprised that Riot was still conscious and said it was enough to knock-out two of him. Then he goes something like, “What makes you think there’s only two of us?” So yeah, he’s had plenty of times he’s had to retrain/contain Riot without actually hurting him/them/whatever.
Jubilee: Her blowing stuff up on the molecular level is something new to me, far as I know she projects ENERGY that causes the explosion, not causing the direct explosion of the matter spontaneously. But even if she could hurt Superman like that, like Gambit, she’d end-up killing herself in the process. But from what I’ve seen of her, nothing that would even make Superman blink. Like I said, shrugging-off nukes isn’t even an impressive feat for Superman at this point.
Dazzler: LMAO Is this guy high? That lame rollerskating disco chick that was a bad marketing idea that didn’t even make it as a marketing tie-in? Anyways, for someone who can look into the sun with telescopic vision, who’s been INSIDE the sun and not been blinded, he thinks Dazzler’s going to blind him? And there’s nothing to indicate she could actually cut him. Superman’s taken way too many energy blasts for me to think Dazzler would have a chance of even scraping off loose skin cells.
Shadowcat: lmao For him to claim she can do things she actually can’t to my knowledge? Never heard of Shadowcat actually pulling organs out. And this is assuming Superman even stands-still. Superman’s actually be able to phase himself, through using his speed to vibrate to intangibility. So there’s nothing to say he couldn’t simply phase in a way to become solid to her. He could also place his Heat Vision at a frequency to where he could mess her up. Superman’s got experience against phasing opponents with Martian Manhunter and various white Martians, so it’s not like phasing is something new to him. If she could roughly match him in strength, THEN she could give him some trouble. But her ONLY power is to phase? No, not going to cut it. An annoyance at BEST. And assuming she actually COULD take his heart out, Emperor Joker wasn’t able to completely stop Superman by out-right ripping Superman’s heart out, AFTER giving Superman a beating that I’ve only seen him get twice before, once against Quex-Ul(a Pre-CRISIS-level Kryptonian warrior from the Pocketverse) and a fight against Mongul(when Superman was almost powerless).
Blink: Has Blink actually DONE that? And it’s not like Superman survived worse things. Like I said, Emperor Joker gave him that beating before ripping his heart out. He also had been cut-up by mirror matter and was still alive and somewhat functioning, but he was cut into like dozens of pieces. This is of course assuming she could even do that. It’d be more likely for him to simply knock her out with a flick of his finger.
Doctor Strange: This is one of the only two legitimate examples he can put-up. Of course he’s overrating the magick thing against Superman. Superman’s withstood mystical attacks from more powerful opponents than Doctor Strange. And the fact that he has normal-human speed, reflexes, and durability, he’s very vulnerable to Superman just flying in and knocking him the fuck out. Superman can endure what Doctor Strange would throw at him. He walked-through an energy beam from the Skyfather-level Disciple and stopped him, when Wonder Woman and Zauriel(a literal Angel of Heaven) were taken down. Doctor Strange DOES have a chance, better than probably anyone else on his list, but the odds are in Superman’s favor, not Strange’s.
Phoenix/Jean Grey: This is his only other legitimate example. But Jean Grey’s not as powerful as he’s claiming. She’s also got normal-human speed, durability and reflexes and could just be knocked-out before she could react. Superman’s well experienced against powerful psionics, like Maxima, Martian Manhunter and various white Martians, Brainiac, Manchester Black, and more. And in most of those cases they can physically hold their own against Superman in addition to being powerful psionics. If it were actually Phoenix on the level he’s claiming, she’s not as powerful as some of the opposition Superman’s faced. So it’s not like he couldn’t win even if she was at the levels he’s trying to claim her to be at. Hell, even during the whole Phoenix Saga thing she wasn’t as powerful as he’s making her out to be.

Thor ruins everyone… stop being stupid. Hulk would get destroyed.
