Are we right or are we right about Nintendo? The Nintendo Wii is now the highest selling video game console currently in the US. It has shipped over 666,000 consoles in June alone (which proves even the devil loves Nintendo). The Wii totals are currently about 11 million shipped in the US. The Wii now takes over Microsoft’s Xbox 360 and Sony’s Playstation 3 as the most popular video game console system. What has made the Wii so successful?. We go into this in our top ten video game systems of all time, but how about the highly unique and intuitive controllers? How about the games themselves that reach out to all audiences (Who could have ever thought that there could be a perfect bowling game in Wii Sports Bowling?) Or finally a new Mario game (Super Mario Galaxy) on par with Mario 3? Nintendo has done it again with the Wii creating a video game system more powerful than a fully operational Death Star. What’s next for Nintendo? Only the future can tell. For now though, Nintendo once again controls the video game market.

  1. We all saw it coming. Hopefully Nintendo can just keep up the stellar sales.

    Nintendo owns the world

  3. crazy. cuz they rarely have them in stores. I’m fortunate enough to have one and it is an awesome console. Still like Xbox 360 more, but it’s cool having a console my wife enjoys too

  4. Hmm… I don’t know… as I’ve said before, Nintendo are mostly dominating everything right now; however, after their performance at E3 and – in comparison to Microsoft – their somewhat lackluster line up of games coming up, I think Microsoft is gonna’ be tailing their asses pretty close.

Though, on a side note, after the NES, Nintendo never really controlled the video game market up until now. ;-)

Umm ya… congratulations on your non-achievement. So Nintendo succeeds with only its 1st person titles alone. Big surprise. I saw this coming before it was even released. But where are the blockbuster 3rd party titles? Madworld looks promising, but i fear it’ll only offer a shallow beat ‘em up experience.

What’s sad though, is that most of Nintendo’s success is brought upon by people who aren’t even true gamers. It’s similar to a pop star who writes a hit song and everyone just HAS to buy it.

I used to love Nintendo. Since the 64 by faith in them has been slowly dropping, but after watching their showing at E3 and watching the post-E3 interviews with Reggie(his answer for the core gamer was Animal Crossing Wii…lolwut?) and Cammie Dunaway(first game game she ever completed was the recently released Prof Layton… talk about a credability killer), I think my all my respect for Nintendo is virtually gone.

So while you’re playing with baby games like Wii-music I’ll still be playing my Wii… but I’ll be having more fun playing the hit game, Wii-Facepalm.

  6. Too bad the only game all those little kids are playing is Wii Sports.

I bought one on launch day and unfortunately has not lived up to my expectations. All the first party stuff was good, but nothing stellar that we hadn’t seen before. Funny that two of the best games (ssmb and mario kart) are best played with gamecube controllers. Mine is currently in a box in my basement waiting for something good to come out. Thanks to Wii Music or whatever it doesn’t look like that will be any time soon….

  7. Also, can’t wait to purchase my external hard drive and my motion control plus which should have both been included in the beginning
