  It has recently come to the attention of Old Wizard that a few young gentleman have put some video “responses” up to some of our more controversial lists. As anyone knows, Sega fans are an excitable bunch; quick to defend their failed systems and copy cat games and even quicker to call us fan boys… which is interesting. I don’t feel I should have to point out the irony here, really I don’t. I’m probably going to have to, but for now I’ll leave it be.

  1. This first was is a three parter by a kid who’s so young his testicles haven’t descended, let alone be old enough to have lived through SNES-Genesis console wars. Each one of these videos is over ten minutes long, and there are three videos; my math isn’t that good but that’s well over a half an hour of video. I’m going to assume that he had to do a couple of takes to get it right so I’m going to guess at least an hour, plus editing time. This means that this kid spent probably close to 2 hours viewing our website; a website he so vehemently dislikes. I’d call him a loser but I really don’t feel like its needed. This display of nerdery says more than I could ever. If a picture says a thousand words, thousands of them strung together must say billions of words, and in this case they are all insults. In all honesty I only watched about 30 seconds of the first video as his pre-pubescent voice is far to grating to listen to. I would be more critical but I really feel bad for this kid, he’s never going to get laid, doesn’t realize the irony of defending the genesis when he’s to young to have lived through it, and he sounds like a girl.

  2. The only way this next video, made by s-some st-stuttering kid from Scotland, could have been any-m-more annoying would be if the kid had b-bees buzzing in the background. Or m-maybe a h-high pitched wine constantly going. I-I really don’t feel right r-responding to this video, or the other one for th-that matter b-because it takes sp-special class of loser to spend time making them. I w-won’t even call them nerds, usually there is nothing wrong with being a nerd, its when ner-nerdery be-c-comes loser-y that the problems begin. This k-kid is def-ffffff-inetly a loser. What’s worse is he does his fine country qu-quite the disservice. He undid in ffffffffffffff-five minutes for Scotland what Mel Gibson took three epic hours to in grain in me. This kid is the wor-worst blow to Scot-t-land since Falkirk. Now that I know Sc-Sc-Scotland isn’t all warriors, battle axes, and broadswords I’m feeling a little disap-p-p-p-pointed. So way to not only ruin your good n-name kid but also your country’s as well.

  3. As many Old Wizard readers know, we are either loved or hated. Sometimes I feel the later more than the former. (That means people hate us more than love us for the Sega fans). Somebody, and I guarantee it was none of the staff members because we are all far too lazy, has put our top 100 video games list to music and posted it. We here at OW applaud this and encourage more of our fans to make us tributes, or preferably send us cash or expensive gifts instead. If you think about it, if you take the amount of time you would have spent making a video, you can equate that to cash and send it our way. A statue would be nice too, a least 25ft tall though. Interestingly enough they set it to a dragon force song, which is by far the nerdiest of all the metal bands. So thanks to our fans! You’re the reason why we do this. (you’re actually not).

  1. I realize most of the newer sonic games suck and I know Sega isn’t any better than Nintendo is. Nintendo’s obviously better but do you still have to say Sega and Sonic actually suck? No, not at all. At least Sega was in the console wars. I know they lost but look at the fanbase today. Everyone still likes sonic, everyone still likes Mario. Some both like me. They didn’t compete for consoles because Sony and Microsoft came in the buisness and knowing the Dreamcast had a small lifespan they knew they wouldn’t get much attention. At least they were better than other companies like Atari. I’m sorry but there were many other possibilities for your list. CD-I? Atari 5200? That’s odd.
  Note to say I’m not a SEGA/Nintendo Fanboy,just a fan. I like both Companies and some of the games they make are top class.Examples are: Sonic Rush DS,Mario Kart Wii,ECT and the list goes on.

  2. I know you’re going to defend your website and start mocking SEGA and calling me a fanboy. I know your site well.Now if you may excuse me, I think you may be just a little kid, 5yrs old,with no life AT ALL that is a Nintendo Fanboy. There has been some rants about this on Youtube,go see for yourself and I think those people that defend your Website are accually the same person,including you. You must be blinded that SEGA is a great company and that SEGA and Nintendo are supposed to be partners,Why,look at Sonic and Mario at the Olympic Games! Please do everyone a favour and take out those lists or change them and also your site.

  I know that is your opinion, I respect that but don’t you think you are going a bit too far?

  Unfortunately I have to go now so goodbye, and I hope you become unpopular, 5 year old,

  You sir are one of the more interesting and polite Sega fans we’ve heard from. As I stated earlier, everyone knows Sega fans are a very excitable bunch, and from what we’ve learned they are quite fond of expletives and death threats. All in all a rather uncouth group. Most of the letters we get are wholey unpublishable, but you sir, your politeness shall be rewarded. We don’t hate Sega. We’ve said Nintendo is better, which it is (and you admit to), we’ve also said that Sonic the Hedgehog is derivative (which he is). We also have actually said that we all like sonic but that the games get boring really quickly (which they do). There is only so many times that you can run in a loop and it be entertaining, and unfortunately that was Sonic’s only real gimmick. Normally I would start mocking Sega and calling you a fanboy, but because of your delightful laugh and kind warning about the ill contents of your letter I will not. Besides I’ve spent plenty of time doing that, you can read those posts if you want to. But your right, it is our opinion and we aren’t going to change it, we aren’t going to change our lists, and we will probably think of a new way to insult Sega and/or Sonic in a future list. Maybe a top 5 ‘why sonic sucks list’ but alas that is for the future. We appreciate your respect but personally we feel we haven’t gone far enough. I am not 5 years old and feel that I am fairly popular, sorry to disappoint again. Well I have to go now to. My case is not rested.

   To be sure, I don’t believe any mature adult would exploit and make fun of kids’ for sounding odd or having a speech impediment. I do not hope to instigate a debate or insult you, but it’s out of place and unnecessary, no matter what they said or how indignant you are.

   With that out of the way, I know it won’t probably won’t change anything but I’m having a little trouble sleeping and have free time on my hands, so I’m giving it a crack anyhow. Just wish to note that you are only seeing one side of playing field here. Let’s pretend the Nintendo fanboys are on one side, facing the Sega fanboys on the other side. You’re only seeing the Sega fanboys making crude gestures and only hearing them spurt out hurtful and perturbing comments. You’re missing everything the guys and girls behind you are doing.
   What I mean to convey is, one shouldn’t base their opinions on a select group of people when one only doesn’t see the big picture.

   Lastly, to be sure, that email from Blake was not respectful nor polite at all. Many people have this delusion that by putting in words and phrases such as “I respect” and “please” and “excuse me” that conceals their anger and somehow redeems every disrespectful thing they said prior or are about to say. That’s not a shot at either Blake, the folks at Old-wizard, or any group of people. It is something to seriously contemplate so you can avoid making such mistakes in the future.

   To be sure, this post is frank, and it often comes across in a disrespectful or sinister way when ones needs to be frank, but it’s down to how the other person receives it.

   I have to agree with that reply, DestructoMaximo/Old-Wizard.com and so I understand.Now that I know you don’t spell or reply like a 5-year old ,you have gained my respect. Expect to see me sooner on the music lists, because they are GREAT.

   TIP: When on youtube/newgrounds, type in’Bowsers Kingdom’(A sprite movie) I do not know how will appeal to you, but it certainly did to me.

    you know, most of the time I read your articles on video games, I just get more convinced you’re mad (that doesn’t mean I’m happy, Zero) because you never owned a genesis… well, make that ALL the time I read one of your game-related articles.
