During a recession people can be desperate for jobs to feed their supposed monetary needs. Your stocks crashed through Terra Firma and your 401k statement has caused dead Mexican dogs to decompose at record rates. Yes, your life sucks but it’s important to have standards when considering a career change. If you or anyone you associate with has done any of these next jobs we don’t want to hear from you. In fact, your mere presence on this site makes our traffic ratings go down and we’re not letting that happen.

Anyone who visits video game forums knows that there are people who spend a little too much of their free time on these boards. There comes a point where the gamer needs to get off the forum for a while, at least for a week, to refresh their memory on who they are in real life. This is not to say that all people who go on video game forums will be on this list, but definitely some, and some that we see every day. We think it’s in everyone’s self interest to recognize if they’re spending too much time on video game forums by seeing if they fall within one of these categories.

Blizzard is easily one of the greatest PC game creators of all time. Unlike many companies who release game after game, the people at Blizzard take their time and release only the most epic games. They are the definition of quality over quantity. They have even been known to pull games months before release because they aren’t completely satisfied with the product. We here at OW have always been huge fans of Blizzard and actually wish that their games weren’t so good. Hours of my life have been and still are being burned away staring at my computer screen trying to invade that last base or get that last piece of epic gear. Every game is Blizzard’s best game and with the release of the new WOW expansion and on the eve of the releases of sequels to both Starcraft and Diablo, here is our two cents on the matter.

Once Upon a Geek is one of our favorite nerd sites, as many of you already knew from reading our Top 11 Nerd Sites list. Well, it turns out that The Irredeemable Shag also likes Old-Wizard as we have been included in his latest post of “Comic Book Blog Recommendations”, saying “Not purely a comic book blog; really more of a video game blog. However, they do comic related posts from time to time. Also, the topics they bring up tend to be controversial, so there are always some fun arguments going on over there.” Check out the full post here.

It is hard to argue for a better video game genre than the RPG. No genre before or after has instilled such wonder and nostalgia in the video gamer. When playing the likes of racing or fighting games, one is enveloped by the momentary pleasure of winning a fight or driving as fast as you can to finish a race. The RPG though is quite the opposite of these genres. Anyone accustomed to RPG’s knows what they’re in store for before the game even starts; Endless hours of game play, always-evolving story lines, and perennial character development. The RPG is for the tortoise, not the hare, and would always prove to bring the most satisfaction to the gamer who was willing to let the parables of patience surround their being. In this list, we go through the 15 greatest RPG’s of all time with a focus on the games that were not just games, but timeless pieces of art.

I came to a realization after our last music article entitled “The Top 5 Musical Countries“. One of these insights was that many people don’t understand parody, which is disheartening when making lists that sometimes try to be playful for entertainment’s sake. The other insight I came across was that some people know absolutely nothing about music, but for some reason feel entitled to make an opinion on it. This later insight is what will be covered in this list. God bless Video Gamers and their opinions because they are always somewhat informed (besides those who don’t read an article but just come on the site to say “epic fail” with no reasoning).

The original Star Wars movies are some of our favorite movies of all time here at Old-Wizard.com, and as you might expect we also love the video games as well. That’s why this list was especially difficult for us, considering that all three of us have been playing Star Wars video games since the early 90s.  After much debate though, we finally settled on ten games we could all agree on. These next games span the days of the Macintosh all the way to the seventh generation consoles like the Nintendo Wii, and in our humble opinions these are the ten best Star Wars games of all time, and we’re sure you’ll agree us with us. Search your feelings, you know it to be true.
