Top 10 Nintendo Games
The NES represents retro gaming even more than the Atari, mostly because it had more quality games that would be imprinted in the gamer’s imagination for years. These retro games are some of the most enjoyable games every to be released for the platform system. The amount of great for the NES was staggering, but we wanted to make the tough choices and limit it to a top 10. These games we find undeniably great, meaning that even if you wanted to see a different entry on this list, you couldn’t disagree with the games we have on them now. With a list like this, difficult omissions will always be made. The ordering was very difficult for this list. Sit back, pour a glass of wine and enjoy the memories of 8-bit glory. -
Top 10 Worst Types of People
As the readership of Old-Wizard knows, we have gripes with many different types of people. The most often cited people who we dislike are the Sega-heads who consistently claim that the Sega Genesis was better than the SNES. We have addressed this numerous times throughout many of our articles (top 5 worst video game websites), but we also gave them their due in our “top 5 best Sega games of all time“. What the Old-Wizard reader may not know though is that we have a lot of heat for more than just the Sega-head. We come across people every day that make us ask ourselves “Why do we have to live in this time”? While this may seem like too much of a gloomy disposition on our part, it is not without reason that certain people just tend to piss us off. We’ll go through these “types” in this list. We just hope that you’re not one of them!

Top 10 American Bands Revisited
Earlier in the week we posted up our Top 10 American Bands list and naturally we received many emails from both people who loved it and hated it. Although we just posted a Mail Bag a couple of days ago, we wanted to take the time to respond to a particularly annoying email we just received from one of our more useless readers (although not as annoying and useless as Gamer Muzz). For some reason this guy hates all of our music lists, and yet he still comes back and reads every single one. Not only that but he emails us about every single one too. So we figured it was time to give him the attention he’s been craving for so long:

Top 5 Two Player Co-op Games
Was there anything more fun than playing a video game with a friend after school? Not only were you taking turns playing though, you were playing together, traversing battlefields and experiencing the best 2 player action in the video game medium. In this list, we wanted to go through what we thought were the top 5 co-op video games. This was a fairly obvious list for us. We knew what games we played most with our friends at all hours of the day. We’ll spare you any more of an introduction. It’s these next games that bonded friendships, and sometimes created turmoil over one or the other not “doing their part”.

Top 10 American Bands
After releasing the Top 10 British Bands of all time and the Top 5 Swedish Bands of all time, it was only a matter of time before we released a “Top 10 American Bands” list. Sticking to bands within our generation helped narrow the long list of bands on our original roster, which was more like the top 1000 American bands. Luckily, we rethought our list after a fateful computer crash. As usual, this list has nothing to do with chart positions or albums sold, simply what we like. Since we are always right, take note, dear reader, and go get whatever you might not have from this list. Kisses fu%#ers.

OW Investigative Series: Violence in Video Games
Part 1: Donkey Kong
This week begins OW’s most ground breaking work since our SegaGate report. Being the lovers of all video games (except Sega games which we only like a little) we decided to launch a multiple part, in depth, and often controversial investigative report on violence in video games. Personally we here at OW feel that the idea of video games influencing the acts of others to such a profound degree is utterly preposterous. For the sake of our journalistic credit, however, we will put aside these feelings and focus on only the facts as history presented them.

Mario vs Sonic
Nintendo and Sega’s flagship heroes come face to face for the first time in this Old-Wizard melee of epic proportions. Who is the stronger hero? Mario looks like an average plumber but everyone who has ever picked up a controller knows how strong he is. Sonic looks strong with his uber-cocky attitude and his needled back that surely wreaks damage on anyone who comes his way. Just picture it, Mario in the first Mario level coming across goombas and koopa troopas and then all of the sudden there’s Sonic standing in his way preventing Mario from jumping onto the flag and into the subterranean level. Would Mario be able to knock out the confident Sonic or would Mario be kept out from the rest of the game because of Sonic’s strength? This topic will be discussed in this article. Let the battle rage on.
